IPC-7711/7721

IPC-7711/7721 Rework, Modification and Repair of Electronic Assemblies Training and Certification Program is a widely used standard and offers a wealth of industry approved techniques on through-hole and surface-mount rework as well as land, conductor and laminate repair.  The standard also includes procedures for repairing and modifying boards and assemblies.  The standard also supports the Lead-free and BGA’s and Flex Print repairs. The IPC-7711/7721 is an advanced course designed as a comprehensive hands-on training program that requires participants with proficient soldering skills. The students will be evaluated on both theory and practical work. Participants should be IPC-A-610 and/or IPC-J-STD-001 certified or should possess adequate soldering ability and have good knowledge and experience in electronic assembly.

In CIS (Certified IPC Specialist) training, module 1 Open book is pre-requisite for all modules.  The training consists of the following modules.

  • Module 4 :  Chip & MELF Procedures
  • Module 5 :  Gull Wing Lead Procedures

  • Module 8 :  Laminate Repair
  • Module 9 :  Conformal Coating

Who should attend IPC-7711/7721 Application Specialist training?

The IPC-7711/7721 Application Specialist course is designed for operators that work with electronics and electrical products. Anyone who is involved in the rework of electronic components, or repair of printed wiring boards, including Manufacturing assemblers, Engineers, Technicians, OEM’s, Printed Board Manufacturers ect.

How long is the duration of the Course?

The duration of the course is 5 days.

How the IPC-7711/7721 Certification Program works.

  • Each Application Specialist training attendee will be provided with student training material, for the use during the training class.
  • IPC Trainer will show slide shows on the specific modules and discuss in detail the specification.
  • Students will write an Open Book exam on Module 1 and must have 70% or more to pass. (module 1 is pre-mandatory) On all the other Modules the student has to pass a practical examination.
  • You will have a question, which will consist of 4 possible answers. The student must choose the correct one.
  • Individuals who fail any written exam will be afforded one opportunity to be re-assessed after a study period, not less than 24 hours.
  • Candidates who pass the exams will receive an IPC Certificate of Proficiency, indicating the areas of the IPC-7711/7721that were successfully completed.
  • Certification is only valid for 2 years and then a re-certification exam must be written before expiry date. (Same course material will be used).
  • The students will learn how to interpret the procedures in terms of skill level, level of conformance and product classification.
  • The hands-on training consists on many practical exercises to reinforce the different technologies learned.
