IPC-A-610

IPC-A-610 Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies is the most widely used standard, published by the IPC. It provides visual acceptance criteria for post-assembly mechanical and soldering assembly requirements. It also addresses additional technologies, including flexible circuits, board-in-board, package-on-package, de-penalisation and additional SMT terminations. The IPC-A-610 also has included the Lead-free Inspection & Soldering information with the latest technology changes. The IPC-A-610 also synchronizes to the requirements expressed in other industry consensus documents and is used with the material and process standard IPC J-STD-001.

It has an International reputation as the source for end product acceptance criteria for consumer and high reliability printed wiring assemblies.

An industry developed and approved program that includes training, certification and instructional materials based on the IPC-A-610 is available for your company.

Why earn IPC-A-610 certification?

The training and certification has immediate recognition, legitimacy and value throughout the electronics industry. This certification will demonstrate your commitment to customer requirements and greatly assists any company dedicated to ISO-9000 or other quality assurance initiatives.

The individuals will learn the internationally accepted Inspection standard for completed Printed Circuit Boards. When successfully completed this course you will be awarded a serialized IPC Certificate, which aids in the traceability of the program. The training will increase your quality of workmanship.  After successfully completing the program you will have the Title as CIS (Certified IPC Specialist).

Who should attend IPC-A-610 Application Specialist training?

The IPC-A-610 Application Specialist course is most suited to quality personnel especially inspectors and quality engineers and managers. It is relevant to anyone who will be responsible for the quality and the reliability of electronic and electrical assemblies including maintenance technicians, assembly operators, production supervisors, buyers, sales teams and process engineers.

How long is the duration of the Course?

The duration of the course is 4 days.

How the IPC-A-610 Certification Program works.

  • Each Application Specialist training attendee will be provided with student training material, for the use during the training class.
  • IPC Trainer will show slide shows on the specific modules and discuss in detail the specification.
  • After each Module a written open book examination will follow.
  • You will have a question, which will consist of 4 possible answers. The student must choose the correct one.
  • Each participant that writes the exams must have 70% for each Module to pass.
  • Module 1 & 2, Open book and Closed book is mandatory and must be successfully completed before an individual can be certified in any of the other Modules 3 – 9.
  • Individuals who fail any written exam will be afforded one opportunity to re-assesed after a study period, not less than 24 hours.
  • Candidates who pass the exams will receive an IPC Certificate of Proficiency, indicating the areas of the IPC-A-610 that were successfully completed.
